Special Meeting

February 21, 2008

 

CALL TO ORDER

 

The Board of Trustees of the Town of Deer Trail met in special session on Thursday, February 21, 2008 at the Town Hall, 555 Second Avenue, Deer Trail, Colorado.  Mayor Jim Johnson called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m.

 

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the Spur Mountain Timber Annexation, consider a resolution to accompany the Great Outdoors Colorado grant, consider approval of an agreement with Senior Hub, consider the Elks’ special events permit, and consider a request from the Jockey Club to vacate the streets and alleys on the Jockey Club Grounds.

SPUR MOUNTAIN TIMBER ANNEXATION

Spur Mountain Timber has not yet closed on their property.  This matter will be discussed at a later time.

 

GOCO GRANT RESOLUTION

 

TRUSTEE STOUMBAUGH MOVED, TRUSTEE WOOD SECONDED to approve Resolution 08-02 supporting the Deer Trail Jockey Club’s Rodeo Grounds Restroom Project.  Voting was as follows:

                YES:                        Fields, Johnson, Lavoie, Sanger, Stoumbaugh, Venter, Wood

                NO:                         None

                ABSTAIN:            None

                ABSENT:               None

The Mayor declared the motion carried.

 

SENIOR HUB AGREEMENT

 

TRUSTEE LAVOIE MOVED, TRUSTEE STOUMBAUGH SECONDED to approve the agreement with The Senior Hub, Inc. which allows the placement of and access to a freezer in the Town Hall to transfer and store food products that will be delivered to the Senior Hub’s clients by employees and volunteers working for the Senior Hub.  Voting was as follows:

                YES:                        Johnson, Lavoie, Sanger, Stoumbaugh, Venter, Wood, Fields

                NO:                         None

                ABSTAIN:            None

                ABSENT:               None

The Mayor declared the motion carried.

 

ELKS’ SPECIAL EVENTS PERMIT

 

TRUSTEE LAVOIE MOVED, TRUSTEE FIELDS SECONDED to approve the Elks’ Special Events Permit for Saturday, March 15, 2008.  Voting was as follows:

                YES:                        Lavoie, Sanger, Stoumbaugh, Venter, Wood, Fields, Johnson

                NO:                         None

                ABSTAIN:            None

                ABSENT:               None

The Mayor declared the motion carried.

 

JOCKEY CLUB STREETS AND ALLEYS

 

Raymond Behrens, representing the Deer Trail Jockey Club, asked the Board to consider vacating the streets and alleys in the Jockey Club Grounds.  The streets include two and one-half blocks each of Grape and Holly Streets, approximately two and one-half blocks of Third Avenue and three blocks of Fourth Avenue, as well as alleys in six city blocks.

 

TRUSTEE VENTER MOVED, TRUSTEE FIELDS SECONDED to vacate the streets and alleys in the Jockey Club Grounds.  Voting was as follows:

                YES:                        Venter, Wood, Fields

                NO:                         Sanger, Stoumbaugh, Johnson, Lavoie

                ABSTAIN:            None

                ABSENT:               None

The Mayor declared the motion defeated.

 

ADJOURNMENT

 

TRUSTEE LAVOIE MOVED, TRUSTEE STOUMBAUGH SECONDED to adjourn the meeting.  The motion carried.
