The matter at hand was a subdivision of Spur Mountain Timber.
TRUSTEE WOOD MOVED, TRUSTEE VENTER SECONDED to open the public hearing for the Spur Mountain Timber Subdivision. Voting was as follows: YES: Boyd, Fields, Hardwick, Venter, Wood NO: None ABSTAIN: None ABSENT: Stoumbaugh The Mayor declared the motion carried.
Mayor Frank Fields opened the public hearing at 7:03 p.m.
The Town Clerk presented the following documents: Copy of Notice of Public Hearing published in the Tri-County Tribune in the May 15, 2008 edition; Proof of Publication of Notice of Public Hearing; and copy of subdivision map.
Mayor Fields asked for public comments. None were offered.

CALL TO ORDER
The Board of Trustees of the Town of Deer Trail met in regular session on Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at the Town Hall, 555 Second Avenue, Deer Trail, Colorado. Mayor Frank Fields called the meeting to order at 7:09 p.m.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA
TRUSTEE BOYD MOVED, TRUSTEE HARDWICK SECONDED to approve the agenda with the addition of Liquor License Renewal – PCT, Inc. and Board Vacancy Appointment to New Business. The motion carried.
APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES
TRUSTEE WOOD MOVED, TRUSTEE VENTER SECONDED to approve the May 6, 2008 regular meeting minutes. The motion carried.
PUBLIC COMMENTS
Phil Steel and Aaron Brachfeld asked for Town Board technical help and strategic support for the formation of a new county, Bijou County, which will include the Town of Deer Trail. They listed some of the possible benefits to Deer Trail, the potential county seat, which include more jobs and commerce and improved economic progress of the region. The Trustees will review the information; no action was taken.
Kendra Boyd asked about responsibility for activation of the tornado siren. The Town Clerk responded that the Fire Department has access to the siren and will activate it based on scanner information provided by Arapahoe County.
REPORTS
Water & Sewer The Town’s wells pumped 1,800,000 gallons of water in May, 2008.

Spirit of the Prairie Park Lighting Representatives of the Jockeyettes were not present. Discussion was tabled to the July 1 regular meeting.
Centennial Park Maintenance Bids Three bids were received for maintenance of Centennial Park: Bob Sanger $260/month Cody Stoumbaugh $295/month Bobbie Bell $350/month

Town Attorney The Town is in the process of hiring an attorney. A letter of interest and resume from Larry Berkowitz was reviewed. No decision was made and further discussion was tabled to the July 1 regular meeting.
CDBG Street Paving Trustee Wood reported that street paving is proceeding as planned. The Town Clerk reported that the Town has not yet received its Notice to Proceed. When the Notice to Proceed is received, the bid process will begin. The Chairman declared the motion carried.
NEW BUSINESS
Elks Special Events Permit
TRUSTEE HARDWICK MOVED, TRUSTEE BOYD SECONDED to approve the Elks’ Special Events Permit for June 21, 2008. Voting was as follows: YES: Boyd, Fields, Hardwick, Venter, Wood NO: None ABSTAIN: None ABSENT: Stoumbaugh The Mayor declared the motion carried.
Spur Mountain Timber Sign Spur Mountain Timber Building Permit Though not required, Kevan Northup from Spur Mountain Timber requested permission to erect two signs on his recently-annexed and property on the west side of the railroad tracks. He also submitted a building permit for that location.
TRUSTEE BOYD MOVED, TRUSTEE WOOD SECONDED to approve installation of two signs as well and approved the building permit submitted by Spur Mountain Timber. Voting was as follows: YES: Fields, Hardwick, Venter, Wood, Boyd NO: None ABSTAIN: None ABSENT: Stoumbaugh The Mayor declared the motion carried.
Community Picnic Mayor Fields expressed his desire for a Town-sponsored BBQ in Centennial Park this summer.
TRUSTEE VENTER MOVED, TRUSTEE BOYD SECONDED to host a Town-sponsored picnic on Saturday, August 2. The motion carried by unanimous vote.
The Board is seeking input for ideas for activities, etc.
Woodland Feed Building Damage Wendy Wood, owner of Woodland Feed, asked the Board to talk about “the damage done to my building when they tore the building next door down.” On behalf of Mrs. Wood, Cindy Mowry presented a letter from Woodland Farm & Feed’s insurance company denying her claim for water and mud that entered her basement during heavy rains.
TRUSTEE VENTER MOVED, TRUSTEE HARDWICK SECONDED to submit the information to CIRSA, the Town’s insurance carrier. Voting was as follows: YES: Hardwick, Venter, Wood, Boyd, Fields NO: None ABSTAIN: None ABSENT: Stoumbaugh The Mayor declared the motion carried.
Liquor License Renewal – PCT, Inc.
TRUSTEE WOOD MOVED, TRUSTEE HARDWICK SECONDED to approve the liquor license renewal for PCT, Inc. Voting was as follows: YES: Venter, Wood, Boyd, Fields, Hardwick NO: None ABSTAIN: None ABSENT: Stoumbaugh The Mayor declared the motion carried.
Trustee Vacancy Appointment Gerald Mergl and Phillip Steel have expressed interest in filling the trustee vacancy on the Board of Trustees.
